Youth Council

The Youth Council is the heart of The Open Podium Project. It is made up of student leaders who are passionate about speech, debate, leadership, and creating opportunities for others.

As a youth-led nonprofit, The Open Podium Project believes students should have a voice in shaping programs that directly impact them. Youth Council members help guide ideas, support outreach, and advocate for equal access to speech and debate opportunities.

What Youth Council Members Do

  • Advocate for students who need support in speech and debate
  • Help plan programs, workshops, and community initiatives
  • Serve as ambassadors for The Open Podium Project
  • Mentor younger or first-time competitors
  • Share student perspectives to help shape the organization

Who Should Apply?

The Youth Council is open to students who are passionate about public speaking, debate, leadership, service, and helping others. Prior speech and debate experience is helpful, but not required.
